Re: CEGUI Project Status Update - August 2010

A bit late, but I find it interesting that it's going to be done using Python.
I remember Centipede and Baxissimo and their skin editor, made with wxPython:

Re: git access

I am using SVN, Mercurial and Git myself. Have used Bazaar one or two times. So I am not really a Bazaar expert by any means. Haven't had any need to use it more. I don't think there's anything wrong with narrowing down the choices of a DVCS to those widely used. Steve could have chosen to use FootS...

Re: git access

Unbiased? He is clearly biased towards "popular" DVCSs. By all means, we cannot expect him to face peer pressure! As I've said on these forums many times, popularity and celebrity endorsement can be good reasons to evaluate a product - but it is completely worthless as a measurement of qu...

Re: git access

Do not forget to check the process that Steve Streeting went through when evaluating the various DVCSs - Mercurial won by a small margin over Git, and Bazaar was ruled out due to it being slower than the rest. I highly recommend Mercurial, especially since it's written in Python, and it features a v...

Re: Problems compiling against Ogre 1.7.1

This is a small guide to using CEGUI with OGRE:
http://www.ogre3d.org/tikiwiki/Basic+Tu ... =Tutorials

It links to this page, which details the process of setting it all up and compile CEGUI for OGRE:

Re: Snapshot builds from the stable branch.

Look at Basic Tutorial 7 - it's almost updated for Ogre 1.7.x.
If there isn't any lib files, something went wrong when you built CEGUI :)
They should be in CEGUI_ROOT/lib
They're called:

Code: Select all

CEGUIBase_d.lib
CEGUIOgreRenderer_d.lib

Re: Any interest in another xml parser?

RapidXML is not relatively new - well, that's relative all by itself! It's the default parser for Boost.PropertyTree - and has existed since 2006 - so I think it has rounded off most of the rough edges. What's beautiful is that you can get away with using only the rapid_xml header, nothing...

Re: CEGUI 0.7.1 Minwg Codeblocks

Thank you for the responce. Don't looks very promising. :( That's why all the cegui libs are for VC? What is wrong with VC ? Any reason *at all* for messing around with MinGW ? It is a hack to get GCC fooled into thinking it's running on Linux when it isn't. If you want to use GCC, why not install ...

It doesn't. :)

However, CEGUI does have an Ogre renderer. Just build it.
I did, and it works with latest Ogre SVN trunk.

Re: CE takes a short break.

I am fully capable of using great code without docs :)
Even when it has docs, I am too lazy to spend my time on looking it up.
I use the search tool of my IDE most of the time.. :P

(Why is BBCode off?)

Re: Falagard Visual Skin / Scheme Editor

I am totally for this idea! :D One of the main quacks that people have against CEGUI is this: how awfully awkward it is to create skins. :) I'll gladly shell out the mere amount.. The only thing which came close to this was the Gimp script posted a while back. I haven't tried it - mostly because I a...
