Premake instructions are wrong, need a little help plz.

Hi.

I've just checked out the 0.6.2 branch from svn but I'm having trouble getting the premake system to generate the project file for vs2008.

The README file states to download Premake3.1 from http://sourceforge.net/project/showfile ... p_id=71616 but this version is not available, only version 4 of premake is there.

Downloading premake version 4, renaming the exe to 'premake.exe' and then running 'build_vs2008.bat' first results in the script complaining that premake4.lua does not exist. Taking a wild stab in the dark and editing build_vs2008.bat by deleting the --file cegui.lua and then renaming cegui.lua to premake4.lua also fails with the script complaing about some global function or somesuch.

After searching the Cegui forum I notice someone else asked a similar question some time ago, back then he was told to use premake 3.6, but that was last summer. Rather than chase my tail trying to get this to work with what stands a good chance of being the wrong version of premake I'd be grateful if someone could provide up to date instructions on what is required to get this to work.

On an unrelated note is it really necessary to have readme files with no file suffix so they can only be opened on 8% of the desktop machines in the world without manual intervention to choose a viewer every single time?

Hi, and welcome.

You can get the older premake releases via sourceforge. The following is a link that will get you 3.6 for Windows: http://downloads.sourceforge.net/premak ... ror=puzzle

Yes, yes it is.

More seriously, it is a fact that the readme file(s) and other such static documentation that accompanies CEGUI does need an update. Part of the changes for the 0.7 release will see all the documentation updated and rolled into something with a single point of access (that being your browser / html viewer).

That's got it working. Many thanks for the speedy response.
