Questions Question Questions

Postby Sami_Hamlaoui » Wed May 25, 2005 15:25

I have just downloaded CEGUI (cegui_mk2-1.2.0.zip) and the dependancies (cegui_mk2-deps-vc7.1.zip) and I am uttery confused :). If anyone can answer my questions I would appreciate it.

1) Is there a tutorial on the steps to get CEGUI up and running? Headers to include, how to init/shutdown the system, etc? I've read the Tutorials section (i.e. the orge one) and the ones on the WiKi, but nothing seems to cover it in-depth.

2) Which version of the CRT dll should I link with?

3) With the dependancies, I understand the libs with a trailing "D" or "_D" are the debug versions, but which of the boost libs are debug - with or without the "-gd"?.

4) Does CEGUI need to be precompiled, or should I include all the C++ files into my project? If the later is the case, will I need to download all the xerces and freetype SDKs to get the headers out?

I think that's it for now :)

Thanks in advance

you should really get the 2.0 release first..

As to the tutorials, sounds like you've read all that's there.
I suggest downloading some of the demo's..

Or you could get the CVS version and look at the sample framework there...

I use msvc7.1 and I just make sure I do a "multithreaded dll" link... Not sure if that's what you're asking.

Thanks!
