How easy is it to load a .layout file in Ogre3D?

I have created a .layout file and I want to load in Ogre3D.

I have several image sets and fonts in their respective directories so would I have to load the entire datafiles directory somewhere in Ogre so that it can use the imagesets?

You seem to be misunderstanding how this works. Ogre3D doesn't parse CEGUI resources, CEGUI does.

Read the beginner tutorial series to make sure you understand the core concepts: http://www.cegui.org.uk/docs/current/
