Since CEGUI utilizes a renderer specifically for Ogre, and Ogre is officially compatible with Android as of 1.9, does anyone know if it is possible to use CEGUI with the Ogre specific renderer?
I reckon the most obvious solution would be to just test it and find out for myself.
Unfortunately, I don't actually have an android device, and Ogre doesn't run in the developer emulator :p
Since my sole reason in investing in an Android device would be for the development of an app using Ogre, I'd do all of my development on a windows machine then port it over when the project is nearly complete.
If anyone can let me know either way, it'd be greatly appreciated.
Ogre+CEGUI in Android?

Re: Ogre+CEGUI in Android?
I have not done this myself but at least 2 people have their projects based on Ogre and CEGUI running on Android. Somebody has got it running on iOS as well.
That said, if you are developing an Android-only project I do not recommend CEGUI (or even Ogre). If you are targeting Android only, go the Java route which is considerably less painful. CEGUI and Ogre could be used if you have a multi platform project and need a single codebase running everywhere.

Re: Ogre+CEGUI in Android?
Good to know.
Ideally the plan is to build up a set of engine libraries around an engine that works on everything, from PC, Mac, Linux, and phone OS's.
I tried looking at other GUI subsystems that advertise working with android (and ogre) out of the box, in particular Qt and libRocket.
however I'm not fond of Qt's licensing and libRocket just isn't mature/stable enough to invoke any great deal of confidence in me.
Is there any particular reason I should stick to Java on Android?
I've been using Ogre and CEGUI for a while and feel somewhat comfortable using them.
The initial set-up might be a pain but assuming I get the libraries to compile it should be as simple as making sure my game's code lines up with the Ogre framework code under Android examples, I would think.

C++ and Android are painful to setup, so yeah, initial setup.
