CEGUILayout Editor - 0.6.3 Broke

Postby Van » Tue Sep 08, 2009 12:50

The 0.6.3 layout editor is broken. Window OFFSETs are not working properly.
How is it that we break something that was working fine in the previous version?

Hi Van :)

Rest assured that i only break things unintentionally. I will give it a try myself. It could have to do this with this bug:
viewtopic.php?f=3&t=4268

Which reminds me of the fact that i should create a new installer!

Okay i tried some stuff but "it works for me". Can you explain what doesn't work on your end, maybe with a copy & paste of a failing layout?

Thanks.

When I installed 0.6.3 and tried to set a child window positions doing the following:

Left Scale: 0
Left Offset: 10
Top Scale: 0
Top Offset: 50
Right Scale: 1.0
Right Offset: -10
Bottom Scale: 1.0
Bottom Offset: -10

in 0.6.2 the window would move and position itself as I made the changes. In 0.6.3 the child window does not position itself at all when I enter the OFFSET numbers. In other words, the OFFSETs are not being honored.

Yes, the above linked post does seem to be related.

This statement is both a little rude, and extremely naive about software development. It's hard to believe that someone with any programming experience whatsoever would say this.

Breaking features of a program as you try to improve it happens all the time, as a natural side-effect of writing new code and restructuring existing code. This concept is so ingrained in software development that "regression testing" (look it up) is a standard procedure in software projects that can afford formal testing.

CEGUI and it's tools are free, open source software that can't afford formal testing. They rely on (preferably not snide) bug reports from it's users.

p.s. Thanks Scriptkid for CEGUILayout Editor - it's long been a helpful tool for me.

Hi,

A 0.3 'b' version of the editor is available from the download page: http://www.cegui.org.uk/wiki/index.php/ ... oads_0.6.3

Please not that this only effects the Windows binaries. The sources and Mac binaries didn't need an update.

Thanks Jabberwocky :)
