Background Colors on TabContentPane and TabButtonPane

I want to be able to use a property called "BackgroundColours" on both the TabButtonPane and TabContentPane. Currently I can only adjust the alpha on these. This is not adequate for the level of configurability that I am trying to achieve.

How can I adjust the WindowsLook definitions of these two window types to allow me to specify a background color rect?

As a quick experiment I tried to add a <colurs topLeft... /> tag to the "normal" Section of the "Enabled" StateImagery. This did not change any colors. I noticed that the TabContentPane "normal" ImagerySection defines 3 FrameComponents, but it does not define an ImageryComponent... not sure if i need one.
