SDL renderer

Postby cocobear » Tue Nov 18, 2008 05:07

Can SDL as renderer for CEGUI now?

I saw http://www.cegui.org.uk/phpBB2/viewtopi ... umpost4123
talk about it, but I can't get any code or image.
It is years ago, I wonder is it possible now?

Anyone can show me the code above thread mentioned?

Hi,

It's odd that your post in that other thread did not show up for me yesterday - I was aware of your post, but since it was not showing, I thought you'd deleted it or something - perhaps a phpBB bug :?

To the best of my knowledge, Lindquist did not share the code for the SDL renderer he mentions in that thread, so I'd have to say that this is not available anywhere (depending on dates, even he might not have it, since I believe at some stage he lost some work due to a HDD failure).

I don't think anyone else has worked on such a thing since, so I do not know whether it's a more feasible proposition now than what it was back then (I'm no SDL expert so do not know the current state of it, nor whether it easily exposes the kind of functionality we'd normally use in a renderer).

Maybe someone else out there knows more :)

CE.

Hmmm. That's a shame. I'm not aware of any other existing work, so it would have to be something built from scratch.

I imagine it's not a great feat to achieve, though if the final usefulness is in doubt (due to those performance concerns), it might be difficult to justify the time spent writing the thing :?
