[SOLVED] Errors rendering CEGUI on Ogre3d with waveit plugin

[SOLVED] Errors rendering CEGUI on Ogre3d with waveit plugin

Hi,
I am having problems rendering CEGUI onto Ogre3d using the Waveit web player plugin. If I do not use the Waveit plugin, CEGUI can be rendered as per normal. It keeps spamming this error message every frame: "Error prior to using GLSL Program Object : invalid value". Below is the full log. Any help is greatly appreciated! :)

Why have you double posted? Why did you not surround the log and such things with code tags as we ask? Why did you only post an Ogre log and no CEGUI log? Did you not read the forum guidelines?

Fix these issues, and we might consider trying to help.

I can't identify an immediate cause of any issues. Can you clarify whether CEGUI renders at all when using the Waveit plugin? Also, would it be possible to confirm whether the shader error issue persists if you were to remove CEGUI usage? Basically trying to narrow things down and eliminate non-related issues and symptoms.

I do not think CEGUI renders at all when using the Waveit plugin but in my program I can still access the windows and buttons that I created in the layout. Yes the shader error issue will go away if I remove the CEGUI usage. I'm using this code: "CEGUI::OgreRenderer::bootstrapSystem(*renderTarget);" to initialize CEGUI and renderTarget is actually a pointer to the rendering window which is a Canvas created in Java. Not sure if this is the problem here that causes CEGUI not to render, because when I do the same thing without using the Java Canvas (meaning I'm not using the Waveit plugin), it works perfectly normal in OpenGL.

This is mostly a guess, I can't know for sure as I have no experience with the Waveit plugin. I think it is some shader related setting that is getting messed up (by CEGUI, most likely). CEGUI does not use shaders with Ogre, and part of the per-frame set up is to unbind any previously bound shaders - it does not save / restore these settings (not 100% sure if that's possible in Ogre). So perhaps something in the plugin is assuming that previously set shaders are still bound, and CEGUI's unbinding of them causes the issue?

Can you please tell me which is the source file and function name in CEGUI that is doing the per frame setup to unbind previously bound shaders so that I can take a look at it?

It is the file cegui/src/RendererModules/Ogre/CEGUIOgreRenderer.cpp, and the function is CEGUI::OgreRenderer::initialiseRenderStateSettings()

This is called from CEGUI::OgreRenderer::beginRendering() and some subsequent clean up is done in CEGUI::OgreRenderer::endRendering(). If you want to modify the CEGUI source to perform some restoration of previous state, the endRendering call is a good place for that to be invoked.

I just discovered that if I initialize the CEGUI using the bootstrap function after a certain amount of frames in the loop, everything can be rendered as per normal and no errors will pop up!
No idea why this is happening, but it certainly solve my problem!
